Celebrity Jesus? Those two words are not likely partners.
But after I attended the Keith Urban concert and saw all the hands reaching up the stage fighting just to touch a piece of him, I couldn’t help but draw the parallel between that behavior and the way the woman fought just to touch Jesus’ cloak in the crowd.
What are these people trying to achieve by touching him? Is that really going to change your life?
Call it the late night. Call it siting only one row from the top of the stadium and having a different vantage point than most. Call it what you will. But I knew it was too late at the time to write anything coherent, so I made an incoherent vlog instead 😉

I must agree with nancy. There is nothing wrong with loving a talented man’s music, appreciating his talent, and respecting the way he has grown as a human being, husband, father and Artist. I was at that concert, fifth row on the floor and had a terrific view of the entire amazing show! I certainly would have touched him and actually when I met him I was thrilled with my couple of hugs and my kiss on the cheek. He is an amazing singer/musicain/writer and an unbelievable Entertainer!!
Now I am also a senior citizen, a Christain person and I know the difference in the love I have for Keith’s music, him as a person and his talent, and Jesus! I am shocked that you feel excitement at an entertainment event could ever be compared to Jesus!

Yes, I did listen to your vlog. I guess you touched a nerve and I went a little “off”, but what I was trying to get across is that I don’t think what a “few” did reflects our culture today. Most of those fans who wanted to “touch” him were just excited that they had come so close to someone they admired. But in your vlog, you did say that you did not care for his music. Had you left that out, maybe I would not have thought that you were using Mr. Urban as an example.
I just listened to your vlog again, and though you tried not to compare Mr. Urban to Jesus, it still comes across that way. Just my opinion, and I do respect yours. I understand where you were trying to go with this – it just didn’t happen for me.

As someone who has performed in my life, I believe you can appreciate someone’s talent without necessarily enjoying it – that is how I feel about Keith Urban’s music. Thanks for the attempt at understanding and respect. I love that a blog can open up a dialogue even when others don’t agree!
Please! Why were you at a Keith Urban concert if you don’t care for his music? His fans travel those miles and attend many concerts because they love his music, his talent, his sincerity! It has nothing to do with thinking he is some kind of God! They enjoy his entertainment, his love of his family (which he puts first in his life) and his intelligence. As far as touching him, it is just a thrill for them. Have you never heard that music soothes the soul? His does just that. As an “elderly” woman, he brings much joy to my life!
There is no comparison with the woman who tried to touch Jesus! I am actually dumb-founded that you have even made this comparison! Would you have done it with Frank Sinatra, the Beatles or Bruce Springstein? Maybe you do need to get some sleep!

If you listened in my vlog, I stated it has NOTHING to do with Keith Urban himself. I’ve met him and he seems quite nice, sincere and VERY talented – yes, all those things you mentioned. A friend gave us the tickets and I was happy to enjoy an evening out with my husband.
What I was questioning was the attitude of our culture today. I’m so glad he helps you and appreciate your opinion, just as I hope you respect mine.
