Ok, so I just returned from my Sunday night, kids are in bed, time to go to Publix by myself with no-one trying to check out behind me while I have tons of coupons, get my penny item shopping trip. To be honest, I didn’t get a lot of variety, but I did snag some great deals! I spent $10.68 out of pocket, but saved $78.51 PLUS I’ll be getting $5 back! So that’s a grand total of $5.68 for 12 bags of Nestle Toll House morsels, 32oz of Coffee Mate, 4 canisters of Publix Oats, 2 Children’s Tylenol, 2 Children’s Motrin and 4 bottles of Adult Tylenol.
While the Children’s Motrin and Tylenol cost me about $.39 each, the adult bottles were free:

= FREE + $.01 overage!
I also spent $3 on 12 bags of Nestle Toll House Morsels, but when you spend $15 on qualifying products (which is what 12 bags cost me before coupons), you can send in a rebate to receive $5 back from Real Simple! Here’s how it works:

-$1/1 coupon from 11/1 RP
= $.25 per bag before rebate
*so after the rebate, I’ll be making $2 on the deal and be all set for holiday baking! There are other items that qualify for the rebate, but this was the easiest one for me!
After our swine flu episode with our kids, I was tapped out of Tylenol, so this was a great way for me to stock up again. I hope you guys can take advantage of this deal too, especially while the Penny Item is still going on!

It took me a while to figure out how you got the Nestle Morsels for $.25 each…which leads me to wonder…how do you get so many coupons for a single item?

Sorry I’m just seeing your comment now! I have two main methods for collecting Sunday inserts – recycling and visiting stores late Sunday night before they close and toss whatever papers they haven’t sold. We have a community recycling center that I visit and ask people who bring in their papers if I can go through them for coupons, but you can also ask neighbors/friends/co-workers who don’t use them. Gas stations or Starbucks are other great places to talk to about getting coupons from their papers before they get rid of them! If that doesn’t appeal to you, there are people that sell bulk amounts of inserts online or on Ebay. Does that help?
