The new Aladdin movie may just be my favorite Disney live-action remake ever…

New Aladdin Movie Review {The Daily Dash: May 28, 2019}

IN THE NEWS:

IN THE WORD:

God can do nothing for me until I recognize the limits of what is humanly possible, allowing him to do the impossible ~ Oswald Chambers

IN MY LIFE:

We all know I have a love/hate relationship with Disney remakes: while some become new favorites, others taint my memories of the original.

Don’t hate me when I say the new Aladdin live-action movie may be even better than it’s animated counterpart.

The choreography and costumes alone are stunning and had me wanting to audition for any future remakes. Not to mention I couldn’t take my eyes off of Jasmine herself, equally stunning on the inside and out. (And oh, that voice and spirit!).

It was surprising in the best ways possible and I appreciated some of the lyric updates they made. The one glaring note that can’t be ignored was Robin Williams’ absence.

No-one ever could fill the shoes of the Genie, and while Will Smith gave a gregarious attempt, nothing can replace Williams’ original genius.

That being said, I’m already planning when we can go see the film again. It’s a great film for the entire family and I applaud Disney for this marvelous re-imagination or arguably one of their most beloved films of all time.

PRAYER FOCUS: Surrender
I pray you surrender and submit your plans to God, allowing Him to do even more than you can humanly imagine.
