I have to admit, having my first colonoscopy was nowhere near as difficult as I’d imagined…

IN MY LIFE:

I had my first colonoscopy today. Honestly it wasn’t bad. The entire visit took 2 hours from start to finish. The entire team was kind, competent and a finely-tuned machine.

I was told it would be the best 15-20 minute nap I’ve had in a long time, and since I don’t nap, they were right! Honestly, I wish they had let me sleep longer! (After my canceled flight debacle this week, God knows I need the extra sleep.)

The hardest part was only having fluids the day before and then the concoctions I had to drink starting in the evening. Interestingly enough, everything I needed could be bought over the counter (basically Gatorade and Miralax). It did keep me up all night and then I couldn’t drink any fluids after 5 AM.

They did find one polyp, which they’re sending off for a biopsy, but other than that everything looks good! If you’re 45 or older, please schedule a colonoscopy. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments and I’ll share more of my personal experience.

PRAYER FOCUS: Self-Discipline
I had to exhibit a lot of self-discipline yesterday on an all-liquid diet. But it reminded me that we can do anything we set our minds to.
