IN MY LIFE:

You know about my passion for UNC basketball, but did you know I earned my Masters Degree there back in the 90’s? And yes, it’s true that one of the major reasons I went there was because it’s where Michael Jordan went (that, and the scholarship ? )

While my degree is in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication, my thesis was on “How Participation in Sports Affects Leadership in Adolescent Girls”. It seems ironic that over 20 years after I thought groundbreaking work was being done to “let girls play” (as a Nike ad at the time so eloquently addressed), we still seem to be fighting some of the same battles.

Still, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Let’s celebrate our differences while still providing equal opportunities for all kids to play, compete and lead.

PRAYER FOCUS: Optimistic
Today I pray that you are optimistic about the impact each of us can have on the people and communities around us.

Stay in the know on the go:
