Yes this is a Lorax movie review, but it might not be what you would expect…

I try not to get my hopes up too high for kids’ movies these days. Even though I love a good animated film (especially those that keep in mind that parents are usually watching the movie with their kiddos), I try not to let my expectations get too high.

However, when it came to The Lorax, I have to admit, I was pumped for this one!

It goes without saying that this is a Dr. Seuss classic. But what excited me more was that the creators of Despicable Me were also a part of the creative team behind this film.

A slight aside: I LOVED Despicable Me Now that’s the perfect example of a kids’ movie I had very low expectations of and to this day, still can’t get enough of! It’s cute, it’s clever and more importantly, shares a great message with my kids.

All the things The Lorax wasn’t.

I feel like there was a HUGE amount of hype, promotion and partnered advertising that went along with The Lorax release…and perhaps that’s what sent my expectations over the moon, but I have to admit that the film was just average.

Now don’t get me wrong, I didn’t despise it like I did Rango. No sir. In fact, my kids loved it. But in terms of shelling out my movie dollars, it’s not where I’d choose to spend mine.

The DVD was just released on August 7, 2012, but I’d recommend renting it first to see if it’s something you want to add to your movie collection.
