The Home Depot Free Kids Workshop 2023 Schedule
The Home Depot free Kids workshops are such a big hit, not only in our family, but for everyone looking to get the kids out for some hands-on, free fun! These workshops typically occur on the first Saturday of every month from 9a-12p.
Home Depot also offers free live-streaming and digital workshops for you to enjoy without leaving your home.
While I have not seen free kids’ workshops via livestream yet, I’m hoping Home Depot will add content like this soon.
Kids’ Workshops Crafts
Typically, the Home Depot FREE Kids’ Workshops usually center around whatever holidays are happening that month. Kids can build (and often paint) things like cars, napkin holders, games & more. Every participant in the kids’ workshops also gets a certificate, orange apron, pin and treats when they complete the project!
As I discover what the projects will be for the Home Depot workshops, I’ll list them below so you know what you’re getting into before you head out with the kiddos.

The NEXT Home Depot Workshop for kids is happening on April 6, 2024. Little ones can learn how to build a Lattice Planter.
Register for the Free Home Depot Kids Workshop
While most Home Depots are once again holding the kids’ workshops in person, you can also ask the customer service desk for a free kit to take home.
You can even check out the Livestream workshops on Home Depot’s website. And don’t forget to keep in touch with your local Home Depot near you to see if they have any updates.
Register for Home Depot Kids’ Workshops
The Home Depot free kids workshops have been known to run out of supplies…so while you don’t need to make reservations for the workshops, you can register here.
I definitely wouldn’t recommend waiting until the last hour to arrive, otherwise, you may have some disappointed kids! You used to be able to register for the Home Depot Free kids workshops in advance, but that does not guarantee kits will be available once you arrive.
What Kids Get at the Free Home Depot Workshops
Children must be present to receive a kit (stands to reason, but I suppose The Home Depot is trying to prevent people from taking extras home). All kids get to keep their project, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron, and pin.

Hi! So I was informed that Home Depot Kid’s workshop is going to start doing in person workshops again starting May 7th!
Our Home Depot knows my husband so well that when they have the kits, one of the employees always gives him 3 for our girls to do at home. I’ve heard many Home Depots will give you that month’s kit if you ask at customer service.

Does anyone have Home Depot workshop kit project info from the years 2015, 2014, and 2013? My daughters attended some back then and I’ve been trying to put the pins in order by month and year but can’t remember the order of them. Specifically looking for the month and year for the ambulance, riding lawnmower, chalkboard, fighter jet, a turboprop plane (propeller in front), flatbed truck, picket fence picture frame, pencil holder push lawnmower, sled, and sailboat. If anyone can help I’d greatly appreciate it.
We’ve been participating since then too, but I don’t have that information either. I’m so sorry! Hopefully one of our readers can help out 🙂
I was told last sat (3/7) workshops were cancelled due to the Coronavirus. They gave us a kit and pin to assemble at home.

I looked on their website and it looks like in many areas they have discontinued the kids workshops. 🙁 I can’t find anything on their website. And the birthday party kit is discontinued. They have only a couple workshop kits listed too. 🙁 Wonder why they discontinued the kid workshops, they were always packed when we went.

I noticed here in Calgary the dates seem to be a week later than they are posted in the calendar. Not sure if anyone has ever brought that to anyone’s attention. Also is there any way to get a calendar that actually shows what the upcoming months projects look like? I came across a picture someone took of one last year and it was really cool to have so I could show others what kinds of projects they do and then their kids were interested in going. Thanks 🙂

Pretty sure there is two workshops in November. I saw a flyer there last month but didn’t grab it but I distinctly remember thinking, oh there is two in one of the months.
I would so love it if you could make these workshops the first and second saturday of the month. I work every other weekend, so I can only get my grandkids there on some months and not others.

I love the workshop for kids, until i got sick… I worked for HD and still bleed orange.(inside joke). Recently relocated and soon to get more of my family involved. Kids gain pride in the biggest way and I would go out of my way to swing by the workshop when i was working. Now I plan to help with workshops when my family goes. HD – Your Great!

Were can you find the schedule for year.
I just check their website regularly. They don’t release the entire year schedule all at once.
Why register? What about the people who do pre register and still don’t get a kit? Why are kiylts not set aside for people who pre register their Kids? Over all we love this but the registering thing makes no sense if it’s first come first serve.
I completely understand your frustration, Kay…and frankly, I agree with it. I don’t work with or for Home Depot, I’m just trying to provide information about free activities to fellow parents, so I want to give you as much information as I could find.
Love taking my son to these workshops. Home Depot was kind enough to let me take a project home for my son, because it was his mothers weekend and she wouldn’t let him go. It was the tool box he had been really excited about too. Thanks again home depot
