One thing I’ve come to appreciate about the Arm & Hammer Spinbrush ProClean & kids Spinbrush is that it takes the guess work out of brushing your teeth. I know it’s getting to places I otherwise couldn’t as long as I move it around my entire mouth.
Even though it seems to get the job done faster, I want to make sure my kids are still brushing for the same amount of time to really ensure they’re getting ALL their teeth clean. So I like to turn brushing time into learning time!
This is one of those rare moments in the day where I have them both captive in the same place at the same time 🙂 Since my kids are 5 & 7, they’re technically old enough to brush their teeth by themselves, but I still like to be there for the process as part of our bedtime routine. So I take advantage of this teachable moment and often sing to them in French while they brush.
Usually it’s something as simple as their “ABC’s” or “1-2-3’s” in French, but it’s the perfect amount of time to brush and it reinforces the language and concepts they already know without seeming like I’m “babying” them.
On that note, I also love writing notes on our bathroom mirror with dry erase pens. Sometimes it’s Bible verses, other times it’s characteristics I hope they’ll embody. Sometimes it’s even as simple as writing “I <3 you” and making the heart big enough so their face will fit inside! Whatever it is, I make sure to do everything I can to turn the ‘dull’ into ‘delightful’ at the end of our day!

Usually, it is spur of the moments that create the best education – like baking something and we can’t find the cup so we have to use the 1/4th cup 4 times. I love practical learning!
My son is only two, so we stick to pretty basic stuff. But he likes to help me cook, so we count scoops/ingredients when making dinner or cookies! And he loves gummy snacks too, so I help him count the pieces at snack time too.
Math. I like math, so we end up turning everything into a “math moment”.
We work on colors while we shop for groceries. I name the color of each thing we buy and A tries to say the color after me.
I try to take the struggle and challenges of the every day and turn them into teachable moments for my kids. We talk a lot about God throughout the day, experiencing His presence in EVERY part of our lives!
We compost and garden in the backyard. This year we had a ” stay cation” and put up a tent in our yard. We used this opportunity to teach our son about the environmental impact of buying foods out of season or are not produced locally.

We are going through boxes of old family photos. My children are enjoying scanning some of those meaningful photos and making an outline scrapbook. They are learning about the family history, and keeping their memories in their own way.

i turn random comments into news for my kids! my kids can learn new things such as what is happening around them in the world, new vocabulary, new thoughts and new intellect! Random comments can be very beneficial to a childs development

Just last night the kids were bored and I brought out the Scrabble board. It kept them entertained and allowed them to brush up on their reading/spelling skills.
